Bnai Tikvah
Nursery School Going on Temporary Hiatus

The Board of Directors regretfully announces that the B'nai Tikvah Nursery School is going on hiatus and will be closing at its current location on June 30, 2008.  This was a very difficult decision for Congregation Tikvat Jacob (CTJ)'s Board of Directors to make. We plan to re-open the Nursery School when our Congregation relocates to a new, expanded campus for our entire Community, as soon as suitable space is located.  Our goal is to re-open the school in 2009.

All of our classes will remain in full operation until June 30, 2008.  Programming and the School's operations will remain uninterrupted through June 30, 2008 .

We had hoped to continue operation of the Nursery School.  The Nursery School was on the road to recovery with our curriculum and philosophy being reestablished and enrollment growing again; however, our projected enrollment did not grow fast enough for the Nursery School to become self-supporting.  This has created an unsustainable financial deficit with longer term implications that could undermine our ability to secure a new facility to meet all our needs on one campus.

In the interim, CTJ will continue to provide high quality programming for young Jewish families, such as Tot Shabbat (1 st Friday of the month at 6:00 p.m.) and My Jewish Gym.  Please check our website, www.ctjmb.org, for details on these and many other Family programs.

I want to take this opportunity to once again thank Jenna Rubin and her wonderful staff for all their hard work.   The staff went beyond our expectations in reestablishing our Program as originally envisioned over 50 years ago.  This made the decision even more difficult.

I also want to thank the parents for supporting our Nursery School.  Your continued support has been wonderful.   Your incredible children are what make this decision and letter so difficult.  I can assure you the Board carefully reviewed and discussed this matter in detail before reaching this decision.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.  Have a prosperous New Year.

                                                Sincerely,

                                                Carin Maher
