HAZAK presents: Jewish World Watch
Tuesday, July 27, 10:30 AM Mina Rush of Jewish World Watch will speak about the current situation in the Congo, site of the deadliest conflict since WWII. JWW made a recent trip to that country and is a hands-on-leader in the fight against genocide, engaging individuals and communities to take action locally to produce powerful results globally. You may remember Mina from when she last came to CTJ and talked about Darfur. Don't hesitate to bring a friend with you and remember, Hazak membership is due to be renewed this month. Cost for this event is: $18.00 for CTJ members and $25.00 for non-members. As you know, Hazak is our program geared toward members who are aged 55 and older but we welcome all adults. Lunch is only $4.00 and after comparing our menu to local restaurants, it's a REAL BARGAIN. For more information you may contact Ileene Morris at (310)641-0122

Whooping Cough Alert! Whooping Cough Alert: Whooping cough (pertussis) is on the rise in LA County. Because it is particularly dangerous for infants, the LA County Dept. of Health is urging adults across the county to have the adult booster vaccine to contain the spread of disease. Three members of the CTJ Community (in the same family) have tested positive for whooping cough. They have been at synagogue events in the past month, including the CTJ picnic. The incubation period is generally 7-10 days. Please discuss with your physician whether or not you should have the booster
For more information on pertussis and the booster, go to: http://file.lacounty.gov/lac/cms1_147998.pdf or http://www.vaccineinformation.org/pertuss/qandadis.asp
