Post B’nai Mitzvah Programs

 Eighth-twelth grade students who have become Bar or Bat Mitzvah will meet on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 9 p.m. to apply previously acquired skills and knowledge in an environment both familiar and safe in which to explore their most difficult questions. Guest speakers, literature, videos, and other innovative educational material will be used extensively throughout the curriculum.

Ozrim – Hebrew School Assistants:  8th & 9th grade

Responsibilities: Students will be assigned tasks such as preparing materials for classes and holidays, setting up the snack, development and facilitating learning centers for special programs, as well as general office tasks such as answering the phone, envelope stuffing, computer work, copying, etc.  All Ozrim will also assist with t’filah and hafsakah.#

Madrichim - Classroom assistant: 10th grade and up
           (8th and 9th  graders with special permission)

Responsibilities: The Madrich will be assigned to a classroom to work with a teacher and will also assist with t’filah (services) and hafsakah (recess).
Requirement: Above 10th grade or in the Noar program which includes the Madrichim training.
Days and Times: Tuesday or Wednesday- 4:00PM-6:30PM
                             Sunday-9:00AM-11:15AM or 10:45AM-1PM  
Compensation:       Honorarium or community service
(1 sick day for each working day per week)

Young Leadership Dor Hadash:  10th grade and up  

Students in 10th grade and up will learn how to become leaders in the community and how to fight for their beliefs and prepare for college. Students will also be given the opportunity to work at the Religious School retreat, run Religious School programs and create newsletters.  Please look forward to receiving more information about this program throughout the summer.

Young leadership meets on Wednesdays 6:30- 8:00PM

Fast Track College Credit Program: 11th grade and up

CTJ and the American Jewish University (formerly University of Judaism) is proud to offer a course in Jewish Studies for high school students who are in the 11th or 12th grade and have at least a 3.0 GPA.  Students will attend a 2.5 hour class for 13 weeks and earn 3 college-level academic credits. Please contact the Religious school office as soon as possible if you might be interested in this program.
