CTJ hosts a special screening of "The Bail Trap," a Brave New Films documentary, which offers a thorough overview of the money bail system as well as a personal look into how it negatively impacts the lives of so many . In America, only 1 in 10 people can pay their bail and on any given day at least 46,000 Californians are incarcerated even though they have not yet been sentenced. Thousands of innocent and mostly poor people areheld in jail pre-trial - risk losing their jobs, custody of their children, and even their lives simply because they can’t afford their bail. In addition to the screening, we will have speakers with experience around the money bail system and current efforts to reform it
The event has been planned by Tzedek, a program for young leaders of Habonim Dror Camp Gilboa.
