Our very own CTJ member, Gila Katz will present a program about "Standing Up For Oneself". She will point out how we can get an entirely different view of the rights of the individual, how to stand up for oneself, and an opportunity for helping our family, our friends and ourselves to feel empowered by reading and discussing Torah. Make a Felted Bag in 3 easy lessons

Beginners and experienced knitters are welcome to knit with Cantor Beth, Debra Bronow and Tamah Kushner. Experience the sisterhood of knitting with your CTJ family and friends. (Feel free to invite all your friends to join us in this endeavor.) The cost for this fundraiser is $136 which includes the pattern, knitting lessons, wine, cheese and delicious refreshments. Materials must be purchased separately, in advance.

Psalmfest - An Interfaith Celebration in Song

Tickets - $10 purchased at the door Celebrating its 14th year, "Psalmfest: An Interfaith Celebration In Song", is an interdenominational choral festival. Each year, choirs from churches and synagogues throughout the South Bay join together to raise their voices in song and raise money for a deserving cause. Each choir, including CTJ's who will be combining with other local choirs, performs pieces of their choosing leading up to the grand finale when all the singers join together in song. It is a custom to send Shelach Manot (baskets of sweet treats) to friends for Purim. This year you can purchase Shelach Manot for all of your CTJ friends online at happypurim.com or on paper. You should have received a personalized email last week with your password to happypurim.com. If you have not received your password, contact Wendy in the CTJ office at 310 546-3667. Purim Carnival Sunday, March 11th, 9:30am-12:30pm Come one, come all where you will find a giant obstacle course, carnival games, a dunk tank, a jumpy castle, cake walk, pizzas, cotton candy, and so much more!! We recommend children bring $18 for fun! All proceeds will go to help with Religious School Scholarships.

CTJ Sisterhood Torah Fund Dinner and Service

Dinner at 5:30p.m. and Service at 7:00p.m.
Join us for a delicious catered dinner followed by a lovely Kabbalat Shabbat service. Women and men welcome. We will honor our Torah Fund donors and bring attention to the importance of Torah Fund. Torah Fund supports future clergy and Jewish educators at the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies (Los Angeles), Jewish Theological Seminary (New York), Schechter Institute of Jewish Studies (New York), and the Seminario Rabinico Latinoamerica. The guest speaker for this event is our very own Rabbi Carrie Benveniste. The cost for the dinner is $36. CTJ Speaker Series

CTJ's Speaker Series is hosting two of the most successful leaders in film and television.
Mark Harris is one of Hollywood's most successful producers. After a brief attempt at acting, his friends Jack Nicholson and Bobby Darin, encouraged Mark to pursue the business of the film business. He began as a representative for such actors as Dustin Hoffman, Jon Voight, and Burt Lancaster. After moving on to his current role, he produced two Academy Award and Golden Globe winning films: Crash and Gods and Monsters. He has played pivotal business roles in a vast variety of projects from Baywatch to the new-age mega hit, The Secret.
JD Roth is founder and CEO of 3 Ball Productions, one of the most successful producers of compelling and inspirational reality television. With global franchises like The Biggest Loser and Beauty and the Geek, which have helped to inspire millions of viewers worldwide, JD helped create the genre of "transformation TV." In addition to primetime hits including ABC's Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition and Discovery's Flying Wild Alaska, JD is currently helping to reinvent daytime, with the new daily series The Revolution, featuring reality superstars Ty Pennington and Tim Gunn.
Contribution: $20 per program. $35 for both speaker programs. CTJ Speaker Sponsor Contribution: $180 for both programs which includes: Coffee with Mark Harris and tour of the 3-Ball Reality TV Studio and 2 tickets to each event. DVD Drive at CTJ Flicks for Friends is collecting new and used DVDs to be donated to Children's Hospital Los Angeles and the Cancer Care Center of Redondo Beach. Flicks for Friends will have a donation box in the CTJ lobby until February 26. Flicks for Friends was created by Rachel Weiner and strives to bring fun to cancer patients.

5th Grade Field Trip Sunday, March 4th, 9:00am 12:30pm
The 5th grade students are going on an exciting and
educational field trip to the Museum of Tolerance,
where they will participate in the "Finding Our Families, Finding Ourselves" program. We are asking for 5th grade parents to help us with driving the students to the museum.
