Welcome to the Ohren Education Center!

At the Ohren Education Center (OEC), we understand that being Jewish is about more than just knowing our Jewish traditions and holidays. It's about developing a deep sense of pride, belonging, and confidence in who you are. That's why our team strives to create a warm, supportive environment where every child feels comfortable to learn, grow, and make lifelong friends within our community.

If you have questions about our curriculum or enrollment, please email our Director of Education Rachel Hershman at rachel.hershman@ctjmb.org

Our Goals:

  • Community Connections & Belonging

We foster a sense of belonging within the Jewish community, cultivating lifelong friendships and meaningful relationships that extend beyond the classroom, and building a supportive network that carries well beyond the walls of CTJ.

  • Jewish Literacy and Lifelong Learning

We ensure a strong foundation in Jewish knowledge and promote an enduring commitment to continual learning, facilitating an understanding and appreciation of Jewish traditions, texts, and teachings that extend well into adulthood.

  • Daily Decisions through Jewish Wisdom

We aim to apply Jewish knowledge to everyday choices, making informed, ethical, and enlightened decisions. Through engaging lessons and activities, we strive to help students see the practical applications of Jewish wisdom in their lives, allowing them to navigate their personal and social challenges with insight and integrity.

  • Pride in Jewish Identity

We nurture a sense of pride and confidence in our shared Jewish identity. By exploring our rich traditions and diverse cultural expressions, we inspire students to value and take pride in their unique identities, building a strong sense of self-esteem.

  • Synagogue Comfort

We cultivate a sense of familiarity with Jewish ritual and customs that extends to synagogues, anywhere. By demystifying religious services, explaining the meaning behind rituals, and teaching traditional liturgy, we aim to make students feel at home in any synagogue, empowering them to participate fully and confidently in Jewish communal life.
